Plain language, no surprises. Your Instagram files never leave your browser.
Last updated October 15, 2026
The short version
- Your Instagram files are processed only in your browser. We never receive them, and we don't run a server that could.
- We never ask for your Instagram password and never access your Instagram account.
- We use PostHog analytics to count how the site is used. Analytics events never include usernames or file contents.
- If you join the iPhone app waitlist, we store your email address in PostHog to tell you when it launches.
Who we are
Freelytic is operated by SecondEarth (세컨드어스), based in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Contact: sunwoo@secondearth.io.
Your Instagram data files
When you drop or choose files, the page reads them with JavaScript in your browser tab. The followers and following lists, usernames and dates stay in your device's memory and disappear when you close or reload the tab.
If you turn on “Remember on this device”, the report (usernames and dates) is saved in your browser's local storage on that device only, so you can reopen it later. It is never sent to us. Untick the box, press Clear, or clear your browser's site data to delete it.
To open ZIP files, the page loads the open-source JSZip library from cdnjs (Cloudflare). That is a download of code to your browser; your files are not sent anywhere.
Analytics
We use PostHog (US hosting) to understand how Freelytic is used and to improve it. PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser (cookie and local storage) and records page views and a small set of events, such as:
- a file was dropped (method, number of files, rough size range),
- a file was analyzed (format, time taken, and bucketed counts such as “1k–4.9k followers”),
- an error happened (an error code, not the file),
- a list tab was viewed, a CSV was exported, a share card was created, the sample data was loaded.
We do not send usernames, follower lists, or any file contents to analytics. Automatic click capture and session recording are turned off. PostHog also receives standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page URL, which it uses to estimate approximate location.
Waitlist email
If you enter your email to get early access to the iPhone app, we store that email in PostHog together with your analytics identifier, so we can email you when the app launches and understand where sign-ups came from. We won't sell it or use it for unrelated marketing. Ask us to delete it any time at sunwoo@secondearth.io.
Fonts
Text is displayed with fonts served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google.
Children
Freelytic is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices and rights
You can block analytics with your browser's tracking protection or an ad/tracker blocker — the analyzer still works. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold, which in practice is limited to analytics records and any waitlist email. Email us and we'll help.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
